The paint was in good enough shape, certainly not worth repainting, but it was just so blah...
And Bronze? Bronze is an discovered gem of a colour. It doesn't get heaps of attention, but really delivers impact.
Metallic paint goes a long way, I started this project with half a pot — and ended this project with half a pot!
By the way, smaller sizes of Fusion Metallic Paint will be available here in Australia very soon. Sign up to our email newsletters to be notified when they arrive.
We have very limited numbers of these left...and I'm more than a little devastated about this. Get the last of them while you can. As you will see by this project and others, they provide immediate impact!
I rolled straight over the existing (very shiny!) paint. I wanted a vintage wallpaper look...not uniform and solid but a bit faded and worn. Confession time....It took me 3 or 4 tries to get it started correctly. It's a slippery, tight, slick surface and the roller slid off to the side the first couple tries.
I used a wet cloth to wipe away the mess each time until I got the feel of the roller against the shiny painted wall. It's much easier when working on furniture, horizontal surfaces or even floors or walls!
Before starting I quickly and roughly measured about how many roller widths would fit across the back of the wardrobe wall. I marked the roller itself so I always started rolling from the same position. I went crooked here and there, but it's a wardrobe and the pattern will mostly be "peeking through."
On a last minute whim I also painted the timber hanging bar. I was excited to put everything back together, but eventually I'll add a second coat of paint and Tough Coat Sealer to the hanging rod
This was such a fun and easy project — and I every time I open the doors to this wardrobe I cannot help but smile. I found all the accessories online, mostly on sale, the hangers are from the UK because I couldn't resist the colour! I feel a bit like royalty now and it's made getting dressed an absolute pleasure.
It's all here . . . for the love . . .
