when the colour Apron Strings was discontinued
from the Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint line,
I was more than a little devastated.
I was excited, but a bit skeptical.
I love orange in any shade,
but wasn't sure how it would translate to furniture.
And then Marian (Miss Mustard Seed) did this:
You need the perfect piece for Outback Petticoat to really pop.
But when you get it right . . .WOW!
The results are off-the-charts.
And along came my first-time-milk-painter
and awesome photographer Sarah D. of
Sarah David Photography.
She had found a fabulously detailed (and looonnnnggggg)
hall table at a garage sale for a STEAL!
I just knew she and her lovely table were
the perfect candidates for
Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Outback Petticoat.
Sarah D. was ALL IN and after a light scuff
with 180-grit sandpaper, got to painting!
She mixed up about 1/2 cup of MMS Milk Paint with equal amount
water and equal amount of Bonding Agent.
Bonding Agent is what you use when you
want to ensure your paint sticks
to the surface instead of creating a chippy finish.
Look at that amazing colour and coverage!
Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint is an all natural product.
Safe to use with no toxins and zero VOCs.
If only we ALL had such amazing helpers!
Once dried Sarah D. liked the opacity of just one coat
of paint with a bit of the timber grain coming through on the top.
She allowed it to dry overnight before waxing.
One coat of Miss Mustard Seed's Furniture Wax (clear)
followed by the perfect light coat of MMSMP White Wax
using our super easy-to-use Madeline Wax Brush.
The result? This fabulousness . . .
