so you can evaluate them firsthand.

There are often subtle variations in colours
that may not be obvious online, but become quite evident 
when viewing a colour chart.
A colour can cast green, blue, grey, yellow and so on 
having warm or cool undertones.  
Light and environment, including the time of day, 
the season and forms of artificial light can 
alter a colour dramatically.


With  a paint deck, you can move
from room to room, reassessing colours 
at different times of the day.

 They are also helpful when pulling inspiration from 
objects in the room such as a pillow,  artwork or rugs. 
Because they are "portable"  you can take them with you
to coordinate soft furnishings and other decor items.

Sometimes surrounding colours can affect 
the way you view colours.
 Be cautious when comparing colour to colour, 
they can look very different when next to each 
other versus when placed, 
for example, next to pure white or on their own.
It is a good idea to isolate your selection 
by placing white paper next to it, 
to see the true undertones.
