What you can do at 3am with Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint

It happens more often then I care to admit...insomnia strikes and I think....
I'll just go paint something "real quick."

This pine box has held my scarves forever and it just lacks...well, it lacks personality. 
In the midst of a bedroom makeover (that will one day be shared)... 
 3am seemed the perfect time to give this box some much-needed life.

I wanted a rich olive green with metallic highlights. 

I mixed Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Boxwood 
with the tiniest amount of Tricycle and got the perfect colour!
I find with Milk Paint it's all about experimentation and a bit of fun.

For the inside I started with Luckett's Green and added "leftovers" of Boxwood, Curio & Tricycle.
The subtle difference in shades of green is exactly what I was after.

Drying fast...even in the dark & cold

Once dried I hit the text with a bit of copper metallic to bring out the writing.


And so it wasn't quite so obvious, I sanded it back a wee bit.


And then...my fave...the Hemp Oil was brought out...

After finishing the box with Hemp Oil, I let it sit for a few hours to work its magic.


When I checked it, a quick wipe with a rag to removed any excess oil was all it needed.
And voila!!!

Almost too gorgeous to keep inside a closet!

Just goes to show what you can do very quickly — at 3am — with Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint!
