A good friend came by not too long ago for a cup of coffee. Knowing my history and love for painting furniture she recommended I turn it into a business. My house was already filled with one-of-a-kind painted and refinished beauties and I'd just about run out of family and friends to paint for.
After a few more sips...I warmed to the idea of sharing with other what I'd learned over the years of painting and upcycling. I relished the idea of teaching techniques, communing with artisans and working in a world fuelled by my personal respect for the useful, the beautiful and the sustainable.
Everything came together quickly after this initial cup-of-joe which to me was a sign-from-above to keep moving forward...straight into the arms of For The Love Creations.
But then I hit a wall.
Ends up that a health condition required my wearing a HazMat suit (respirator, goggles, full sleeves, the works!) anytime I painted AND this not-so-on-trend ensemble only allowed me to paint for about 30 minutes every third or fourth day. Not good!
But like most of life's challenges, this led me to the discovery of all-natural, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly chalk paint and milk paint. I no longer look like I've stepped out of a toxic wasteland when I paint. And the bonus of NO PREP, NO SANDING, NO PRIMING — well, if that doesn't just win a girl's impatient heart!
I was so encouraged by this discovery (already HUGE in UK & US) that I did the research, tried every brand available and was somehow fortunate enough to develop relationships with my two favourite — Autentico Vintage Chalk Paint and Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint .
I am now a certified Australian retailer for both brands and ship Australia-wide! Woo Hoo! I am also in the process of opening a shop in South Australia where we will hold painting (and many other creative DIY) workshops to demonstrate these beautiful products and their many and varied uses.
My passion for painting, and these amazing natural paints, is something I am thrilled to share with others. They make life easy and represent the very best of what I personally appreciate — respect for the environment and our health, a nod to the "old way" of doing things and making something easier than we thought possible!
Thank you for visiting my blog and my website. I'm so happy to have you here and hope you are inspired. Please contact me anytime with any questions, concerns, comments or hellos. Send me an email or text, I love a good reason to chat!
It's all here...for the love...
